Are you a Yachtie planning to skip Master <500gt and go straight to Master <3000gt? Then read on...
The MCA announced in September '13 that they will now be enforcing MSN 1802 for all Master <3000gt NoE applications, and NoEs will be issued as laid out in the following MCA statement:
After 1st January 2014, any candidate applying for a Master (Yachts) <3000GT NoE MUST hold either a Master (Yachts) <500GT CoC or have passed all of the written examinations & short courses required for the issue of the Master (Yachts) <500GT CoC, as detailed in MSN 1802.
When attending the oral examination for Master (Yachts) <3000GT, candidates not already holding a Master (Yachts) <500GT CoC, but who were issued an NoE prior to 1st Jan 2014 without having all of the relevant written examinations & short courses for Master (Yachts) <500GT, must present all of the relevant certificates to the examiner conducting the oral exam. Failure to present all certificates at that time will be counted as an automatic fail.
In short this means that, from 1st January 2014, if you want to skip Master (Yachts) <500GT and go straight to Master (Yachts) <3000GT you must have all of your modules etc done before the MCA will issue your NoE. This has always been written in MSN 1802, and is not a new requirement.
