This is an advanced course in navigation, Rules of the Road and meteorology, covering the syllabus for the RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore Shorebased Certificates. The syllabus makes some provision for revision of subjects covered in the elementary course but those who have not acquired the knowledge set out in the Day Skipper Course are unlikely to assimilate all the subjects covered in the advanced course in the time available.
The subject areas covered include:
- Navigation including position fixing, estimated and dead reckoned positions.
- Magnetic compass.
- Tides and tidal Streams.
- Pilotage and passage planning.
- Electrical Navigation aids (echo sounder, GPS, Chart Plotters, etc…).
- Meteorology.
- Rules of the Road.
- Safety.
Weekly Evening Classes commence in October for 23 weeks.
Each class duration is of 2 hours.
Course Fee £260.00 + RYA Pack.
Six day intensive courses take place throughout the year.
Course fee £475.00 + RYA Pack – includes lunch and morning/afternoon refreshments.
Weekend courses are available throughout the year. Each course will operate over three weekends, taking place all day Saturday and Sunday.
